Galand Castle
Château Galand is an estate located west of Libourne, on the other side of the Isle River. Some of the buildings date back to the 16th century, and the vineyards stretch from the southern slope of the famous gently sloping clay-limestone hillside of Canon (itself an extension of the Côte de Saint-Émilion) to the alluvial plains of the Dordogne, whose meandering waters flow just a few meters away.

At Château Galand, the grapes are harvested and placed in crates, with each picker selecting only the very best. Once in the cellar, the grapes are placed on a motorized sorting table where four people work to remove any remaining leaves, as well as the less attractive or underripe clusters. At this stage, we can confidently say that a high-quality harvest is “ready for the vats.” Traditional Bordeaux winemaking and aging in oak barrels for 12 to 15 months result in an AOC Bordeaux Supérieur wine that has won numerous awards.
