Château Larteau
Château Larteau traces its origins to the late 18th century with the Beylot family, wine merchants from Libourne, who owned it for nearly 200 years and developed it into a prestigious estate. After being owned by the La Beaumelle family for 10 years, Château Larteau has been owned by SCEA Château Larteau since 2017.
Located on the banks of the Dordogne, south of Libourne, in a peaceful and sunny setting, Château Larteau is situated on a beautiful terroir of clay over deep gravel—the ideal soil for bringing out the silky texture and full-bodied character of great Merlots.
Composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the Château Larteau vineyard covers an area of 12.18 hectares on alluvial plain soil with a clay subsoil. The average age of the vines is 25 years, and the average planting density is 5,500 vines per hectare. The vines are cultivated using traditional methods but with respect for the environment, incorporating numerous green practices (leaf removal, green harvesting, manual sorting, etc.).
Château Larteau is a wine with expressive aromas, offering a generous, velvety palate and an elegant finish. The wines of Château Larteau are the truest reflection of the terroir, brought to life by the passion and dedication of the people who craft them.
