"This pure Merlot has undergone a long aging process (twenty months), divided between barrels and tanks to preserve its fruitiness. The result is impressive. The color is deep, and the intense nose highlights ripe red fruits, accompanied by hints of undergrowth. These aromas linger on the palate, which is generous and velvety, supported by elegant oak and tight, well-integrated tannins. A truly… superior Bordeaux.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2015)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2015 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
Jean-Pierre Angliviel de la Beaumelle, a descendant of the famous Mestrezat family of Bordeaux wine merchants—which he actually ran until 2000—purchased Château Larteau, located in Arveyres, in 2007. He has undertaken extensive renovations there, both in the vineyards and in the cellars, and has enlisted François Despagne to oversee the winemaking. The results are spectacular; this 100% Merlot possesses real character. Since the 2009 vintage, it has continued to amaze us.

About the wine:
Born into a family of Bordeaux wine merchants, Jean-Pierre Angliviel de la Beaumelle settled in 2007 with his children on this modestly sized (12-hectare) 18th-century estate, located on the left bank of the Dordogne, where he renovated the fermentation rooms and the wine cellar.

An interesting wine, but nothing more; it lacks a bit of flavor and body.

The wine is clean. But it gave me absolutely no pleasure, no surprises... Nothing.
