“Lots of cocoa powder and dark chocolate on the nose here; on the palate, blackberries, cherries, and blackcurrants. The palate adds licorice to the red fruit flavors. Supple and full-bodied. Very approachable.” (James Suckling 2018)

Wine rated (2021 guide) 90/100
Rated estate (2011 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
This meticulously maintained estate demonstrates a true commitment to precision in both the harvest and the selection process. The wine is full-bodied and elegant, and the continuous improvement in production is evident in recent vintages, thanks to the guidance of Stéphane Derenoncourt. The wines are supple and harmonious, requiring three to five years of aging. The owners also own Château Haut-Bernat, in the Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion appellation.
