“Stéphane Donze isn’t looking for power in this medium-bodied wine. Well-spiced, it retains pleasant, smooth fruit without any harshness. At its best. ” (The 2015 Guide to Wine Bargains - Gerbelle & Maurange). A Côtes de Bourg with ripe, silky tannins, featuring woody notes that blend subtly into an elegant and powerful structure... A fine bottle!

Wine rated (2015 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2015 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the wine:

Pleasant and full-bodied, with rich, well-defined tannins and a fruity finish.

About the estate:

A perfectionist, Stéphane Donze has set himself the demanding task of producing wines that far exceed the region’s usual standards. After purchasing the estate, he and his wife Lucie spent fifteen years closely studying and observing the layout of their vineyards. This painstaking work—always pushing the limits of risk—has enabled them to achieve perfect ripeness and exceptional precision in their wines.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2014) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

About the wine:

Since settling here in 1994, Stéphane Donze and his wife have made this 25-hectare estate one of the appellation’s leading producers. Their remarkable series of Favorites the 2005, 2006, and 2007 vintages is particularly memorable. Blended from Merlot (70%), Cabernet Sauvignon, and Malbec, the 2010 holds its own. Adorned with a purple hue and brilliant highlights, it reveals warm aromas of baked fruit paired with subtle oak. A broad and generous attack leads into a palate that echoes the nose, with aromas of very ripe fruit enveloping silky tannins. Its approachability makes it ready to drink as early as fall, but this wine will benefit from aging for two or three years. It promises to pair beautifully with meat in sauce.

A great buy from a dream vintage. Excellent value for money. Hasn't reached its peak yet (some tannins still need to soften). Will age well for another 10 years.
