Note: Hachette Guide 3* (Exceptional Wine) + Editor’s Choice
“An exceptional 2009, cloaked in a sumptuous deep burgundy hue, with a powerful bouquet that blends the violet aromas characteristic of Cot (another name for Malbec) with ripe fruit notes of raspberry, wild strawberry, and cherry. The same intensely aromatic palette, enhanced by notes of chocolate, lingers on a full-bodied, dense, rich, and tannic palate. Undoubtedly a great wine for aging: the next decade belongs to it…” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2012)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated Estate (2021 Guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, though we are unable to offer a general assessment of the style of its entire range)
About the estate:
The estate was indeed a coaching inn in the 18th century, but it has only been making a name for itself in the wine world since the start of this millennium. Under the guidance of Olivier Dauga, the current expert on affordable Bordeaux wines, the estate produces fruity and delicious Côtes de Bourg wines, completely free of any harshness. A cuvée made from Malbec, a grape variety once widely planted throughout the southwest, and which is now found only in the Blayais-Bourgeais region, in Cahors (under the name "Cot" or "Auxerrois"), but also… in Argentina.
