Château de Francs

Château de Francs boasts a magnificent estate with 40 hectares of vineyards situated on a fabulous clay-limestone terroir similar to that found on the Saint-Emilion plateau in the Bordeaux region.

The red grapes of Château de Francs are partially harvested by hand; vinification is carried out with care in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with plot-by-plot selection, and aging lasts 12 months in oak barrels, 20% of which are new. The wines of Château de Francs are stirred with a wooden paddle for the first 8 months before being removed from the barrels for bottling

The wines of the Côtes de Francs undeniably share a family resemblance: one almost always finds that silky, almost creamy texture characteristic of Right Bank wines. Their distinctive feature—which Château de Francs is no exception to—lies undoubtedly in these very ripe notes, due to the fact that the owners of Francs are always the last to harvest. The AOC Côtes de Francs appellation is also the only one on the right bank to produce white wines, which account for 10 to 20% of production.
