Château Barateau
Château Barateau is a winery in the Bordeaux region that dates back to the 18th century. It owes its name to Abbé Barateau, who came in 1820 to bless the cornerstone of this winery. The Château Barateau vineyard is planted on a beautiful south-facing clay-limestone hill. This well-structured Bordeaux red wine captures the attention of all wine enthusiasts. Château Barateau, whose quality is often cited as a prime example of the fine wines of the Haut-Médoc, boasts an impressive list of medals, including four gold medals at the Aquitaine regional wine competition.

The revival of Château Barateau is the work of the Leroy family. To diversify its activities, the family decided in 1987 to invest in viticulture. The new owner of Château Barateau spent significant funds to modernize and rebuild the estate, and was rewarded a few years later by joining the ranks of the best wines of the Haut-Médoc appellation. The 24-hectare vineyard is planted with 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 48% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot.
