value for money

"This Cru Bourgeois perfectly illustrates the value for money that can be found in the 2016 vintage! ~ Decanter"

"Garnet red with purple highlights. Complex, intense bouquet, superbly combining its various components. Notes of cherries, peppermint, licorice wood, and black berries such as blackcurrants and blackberries. Lively, fruity, and delicious attack. On the palate, the wine reveals itself with elegance and charm. It has body, class and smooth, perfectly integrated tannins that blend ideally with the structure. The latter has verve and class and imparts a welcome freshness. What a success! A wine of character that will be hard to resist... and yet it deserves to be cellared. One of Cambon la Pelouse's greatest successes! Bravo!!! Rated estate (2016 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

Located in the south of the Médoc region, this vast 60-hectare vineyard, ideally situated near the Giscours and Cantemerle châteaux on the Macau hilltop, continues to grow in popularity, and rightly so. Since 1996, it has been owned by Jean-Pierre Marie, who works alongside his son Nicolas.

About wine:

Well-structured and elegant, this wine is a fine ambassador for the appellation, both in terms of its deep garnet color with purple highlights and its bouquet with notes of ripe red fruit. It undeniably has substance, being full-bodied and delicately oaked.

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

For several years now, this vineyard, ideally located on the edge of the Margaux appellation, has been producing wines that offer remarkable value for money. Under the leadership of Annick and Jean-Pierre Marie, it has gradually found its feet, and the aging of the vineyard now allows it to reach a very high level, with an appealing style that is not lacking in finesse.

About wine:

This rich wine is built on generous tannins and dense aromas of black plum. A hint of dark chocolate adds depth and a subtle extraction that does not detract from the delicious ripe fruitiness. Drink from 2023 onwards.

A very classic Haut-Médoc, with notes of blackcurrant and blackberry. The balance is fairly classic, with elegant, moderately dry tannins and a long, clean finish. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Ready to drink or cellar.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2019 guide) 92-93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is fruity, elegant, and offers a lovely definition, richness, and ripe, juicy fruit. There are notes of fleshy/juicy blackberry, fleshy/juicy strawberry and, more subtly, raspberry, combined with hints of blackcurrant/small berries, violet, toast, Bourbon vanilla, a very discreet touch of licorice, and an imperceptible hint of Cubeb pepper. The palate is fruity, balanced and offers good definition, juiciness, a very fine creaminess, richness, smoothness, finesse and an airy quality. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, chocolate, blackcurrant and, more subtly, ripe red berries combined with a hint of flowers, ripe/fresh raspberry, licorice, and a very subtle hint of cardamom and caramelization. The tannins provide structure.
