value for money

“This Cru Bourgeois perfectly illustrates the value for money you can find in the 2016 vintage! ~ Decanter”

"A garnet red with purple highlights. A complex, intense bouquet that beautifully blends its various components. Notes of cherries, peppermint, licorice, and black berries such as blackcurrants and blackberries. A lively, fruity, and delicious attack. On the palate, the wine reveals itself with elegance and charm. It has body, character, and smooth, perfectly integrated tannins that pair ideally with the structure. The structure has verve and character, imparting a refreshing freshness. What a success! A wine of character that will be hard to resist… and yet it deserves to be cellared. One of Cambon la Pelouse’s greatest successes! Bravo!!!” (Yves Beck 2018) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

For several years now, this estate—ideally situated on the edge of the Margaux appellation—has been producing a wine that offers remarkable value for money. Under the guidance of Annick and Jean-Pierre Marie, it has gradually come into its own, and as the vines have matured, the wine has reached a very high standard, with an appealing style that is nonetheless full of finesse.

About the wine:

This full-bodied wine is built on rich tannins and dense aromas of black plum. A hint of dark chocolate adds depth and a subtle complexity that doesn’t overshadow the delicious ripe fruit. Best enjoyed starting in 2023.

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2019 guide) 92-93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is fruity and elegant, with lovely definition, a rich, indulgent character, and ripe, juicy fruit. It features notes of fleshy, juicy blackberry and strawberry, with a lighter hint of raspberry, combined with subtle touches of blackcurrant and small berries, violet, toast, Bourbon vanilla, as well as a very subtle hint of licorice and an imperceptible hint of Cuben pepper. The palate is fruity, balanced, and offers good definition, juiciness, a very subtle creaminess, richness, smoothness, finesse, and an airy quality. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, chocolate, blackcurrant, and, more subtly, ripe red berries, combined with hints of flowers, ripe/fresh raspberry, licorice, as well as a very subtle hint of cardamom and caramelization. The tannins provide structure.
