Wine rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2016 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the wine:

Deep, clean, and expressive on the nose, with fruit notes. Well-defined on the palate, with hints of licorice

About the estate:

Located in the southern Médoc, this vast 60-hectare vineyard, ideally situated near the Châteaux Giscours and Cantemerle on the Macau hill, continues to gain well-deserved recognition. It has been owned by Jean-Pierre Marie since 1996, who works alongside his son Nicolas.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2014 guide) Mentioned (Successful wine)

About the wine:

Grown on the sandy, gravelly soils with large pebbles on the heights of Macau (15 meters above the Gironde River), on the edge of Margaux, this wine asserts its personality through a highly concentrated bouquet where candied black fruits blend beautifully with the woody notes from aging. Supported by a solid structure that is still austere and imposing, it requires at least two or three years of patience to be fully appreciated.

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Robert Parker - Wine Advocate

Wine rated (2013 guide) 88/100 (Good wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

This wine, with its purplish-ruby color, offers intense notes of licorice, as well as hints of barbecue, roasted meat, blackcurrant, and sweet cherries. Very well crafted and medium-bodied, it features silky tannins and a long finish. Surprisingly, this wine naturally reaches 14% alcohol.

Wine rated 16.5/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the wine:

The 2010 vintage is well-rounded and full-bodied, with silky tannins and a rich finish.

About the estate:

For several years now, this estate—ideally situated on the edge of the Margaux appellation—has been producing a wine that offers remarkable value for money. Under the guidance of Annick and Jean-Pierre Marie, it has gradually come into its own, and as the vines have matured, the wine has reached a very high standard, with an appealing style that is nonetheless full of finesse.
