"This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot has plenty of tannins, an impressive dark ruby/plum color, and notes of vanilla, blackcurrant, and undergrowth, with a medium-bodied profile. It should be cellared for several years to be enjoyed over the next 10 to 15 years. It does not eclipse the 2009 and 2010 vintages, but it is a fine bottle for the vintage." Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2015 guide) 16,5/20 (Reference wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
Lots of spice on the nose with personality and originality, full-bodied, rich, savory tannins, promising future.
About the estate:
La Lagune has not been rewarded by the weather in recent vintages for its courageous organic viticulture. Under the supervision of its administrator, Caroline Frey, the wine has progressed well in recent years, with blends containing a higher percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and more elegant tannin extractions. It just keeps getting better and better.

About wine:
The first classified growth encountered by visitors arriving from Bordeaux via the Médoc wine route, this château was purchased in 2000 by Jean-Jacques Frey, a businessman who already owned prestigious properties in Champagne and the Rhône Valley. Long renowned, La Lagune combines an elegant 18th-century charterhouse, superb cellars, a vast vineyard (110 hectares, including 75 for the grand vin) and a choice terroir of fine sandy gravel. All these assets are enhanced by a dynamic team led by Caroline Frey, the owner's daughter and the estate's oenologist since 2004. La Lagune is aiming for organic certification in 2016.
Three Favorites the change of ownership, including two consecutive ones: this wine is definitely on a par with its environment. The blend, typical of the Médoc, combines 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot. The deep color is matched by a powerful bouquet that borders on perfection: toasted oak notes provide judicious support to an elegant fruitiness with hints of spicy black berries, which are released upon aeration. Savory, rich, full-bodied and refined, the palate is underpinned by finely extracted tannins that guarantee this wine's longevity. "Fleshiness and charm," concludes one taster.

About wine:
The 2011 vintage is denser and tighter, with beautiful substance. It will need time.
About the estate:
Located at the entrance to the Médoc, this wine imposes its characteristic style, always expressing great finesse and elegance. Led by Caroline Frey since 2004, the estate has produced a series of very high-quality vintages that have enabled it to establish itself at the top of its appellation. It must be said that the château has everything it needs to succeed: a very interesting, homogeneous terroir and state-of-the-art winemaking facilities. This is a sure bet that has nevertheless been painfully affected by the climatic vagaries of recent vintages.
