About the estate:

Since the arrival of the dynamic and efficient Paz Espejo, Château Lanessan wines have regained their luster. Still owned by the Bouteiller family since the 18th century, this 45-hectare vineyard, adjacent to the Saint-Julien appellation, is one of the rising stars of the Haut-Médoc. The 2010 vintage is the first true vintage produced by Paz since her arrival. The other estate, Château de Sainte-Gemme, with eight hectares of vines planted around twenty years ago, produces a particularly elegant Haut-Médoc. Over the last few vintages, the wines have truly refined and gained in charm.

About wine:

Beautiful texture, deep and intense yet delicate with hints of blackcurrant and black cherry. The tannins are pleasantly dry and chalky, and an appealing minerality emerges. A solid core, well presented but not extremely long. 2022-2030

Located on gravel banks south of Saint-Julien, this estate has produced some outstanding wines over the years, and this 2019 Lanessan is a solid effort. It offers aromas of blackcurrant, cob, cigar box, and licorice. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied, lively and well-balanced, with a fleshy core of fruit and ripe tannins that are still too powerful due to its youth. 2021-2039

Fruity nose of blackberries, blackcurrants, chocolate-covered orange, and oyster shells. The wine is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Balanced and fresh with some spicy and salty notes on the finish. Drink from 2023 onwards.

The nose is very delicate, with notes of licorice and blackcurrant. The attack is very lively and fresh, with a lively energy, and the tannins coat the palate. The wine is very structured overall, playing in the same league as Saint-Julien wines. A very fine 2019!

The nose is fruity and offers a very delicate intensity. It reveals notes of juicy/ripe blackcurrant, morello cherry and, more subtly, crushed boysenberry, combined with hints of wild strawberry, racy minerality and delicate touches of toast, caramelization, and spices. The palate is fruity and balanced, with a tangy texture, richness, smoothness, and good structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, candied blackcurrant and, more subtly, crushed wild strawberry, as well as hints of ripe berries, caramelization, toast and a very discreet hint of blond tobacco leaf and ripe hazelnut. The tannins are elegant. A very discreet hint of caramelization on the finish.

Fresh fruit and a hint of blueberry for an elegant, fresh, and delicate bouquet. Taut on the palate, with slightly sharp acidity at this stage and a moderately dense structure. Rather straightforward, which suits it perfectly. For drinking in 10-15 years.
