About the estate:

Since the arrival of the dynamic and efficient Paz Espejo, Château Lanessan’s wines have regained their luster. Still owned by the Bouteiller family since the 18th century, this 45-hectare vineyard, adjacent to the Saint-Julien appellation, is one of the rising stars of the Haut-Médoc. The 2010 vintage is the first true vintage produced by Paz since her arrival. The other estate, Château de Sainte-Gemme, with eight hectares of vines averaging about twenty years old, produces a particularly elegant Haut-Médoc. Over the past few vintages, the wines have truly refined and gained in charm.

Decanter

About the wine:

Beautiful texture, deep and intense yet delicate, with hints of blackcurrant and black cherry. The tannins are pleasantly dry and chalky, and an appealing minerality comes through. A solid core, well-structured but not extremely long. 2022–2030

About the wine:

Located on gravelly terraces south of Saint-Julien, this estate has produced outstanding wines over the years, and this 2019 Lanessan is a solid effort. It offers aromas of blackcurrant, earth, cigar box, and licorice. It is medium- to full-bodied, lively, and well-balanced, with a fleshy core of fruit and ripe tannins that are still too powerful due to its youth. 2021–2039

About the wine:

A fruity nose of blackberries, blackcurrants, chocolatey orange, and oyster shell. The wine is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and crisp acidity. Balanced and fresh, with a few spicy and salty notes on the finish. Best enjoyed starting in 2023.

Terre de Vins

About the wine:

The nose is very delicate, with notes of licorice and blackcurrant. The attack is lively and fresh, with plenty of vibrancy; the tannins coat the palate. The wine is very well-structured and holds its own among the Saint-Juliens. A truly beautiful 2019!

Yves Beck

About the wine:

An elegant, refined bouquet with hints of black berries and spices. On the palate, the wine lives up to the finesse hinted at by the bouquet. Its tannins are fine-grained and assert themselves with precision, while harmonizing perfectly with the wine’s acidity. A fresh, slender, savory wine with excellent aging potential! 2024–2040

Vert de Vin

About the wine:

The nose is fruity with a very delicate intensity. It features notes of juicy, ripe blackcurrant and morello cherry, along with more subtle hints of crushed boysenberry, combined with subtle touches of wild strawberry, elegant minerality, and subtle hints of toast, caramel, and spices. The palate is fruity and balanced, with a lively acidity, richness, smoothness, and good structure. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, candied blackcurrant, and, more subtly, crushed wild strawberry, along with hints of ripe berries, caramelization, toast, and a very subtle hint of blond tobacco leaf and ripe hazelnut. The tannins are elegant. A very subtle hint of caramelization lingers on the finish.

About the wine:

Bright, fresh, and lively, with notes of smoke, dried flowers, spices, tobacco, and blackcurrant on the nose. On the palate, the wine is full of ripe red and black fruits, espresso, and herbs, offering a persistent intensity that carries through to the finish. It should age well. Best enjoyed between 2024 and 2037.

About the wine:

Fresh fruit with a hint of blueberry creates an elegant, fresh, and delicate bouquet. The palate is taut, with a slightly sharp acidity at this stage and a moderately dense structure. It’s quite straightforward, which suits it perfectly. Best enjoyed in 10–15 years.
