About the estate:
The terroir of this Cru Bourgeois, consisting of a layer of gravel over a clay-limestone substrate, is equally well-suited to the four grape varieties blended here: Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The vines have an average age of 35 years and yield approximately 40 hectoliters per hectare—moderate yields. A selection of the best plots means that 7 of the estate’s 10 hectares are included in the cuvée, following a hand-harvest with careful sorting once the berries are perfectly ripe. Vinification is temperature-controlled and conducted on a plot-by-plot basis, followed by 12 months of aging in barrels. In this Margaux, you’ll find balance and delicacy, a velvety mouthfeel, and an intoxicating aroma. Its aging potential ranges from 8 to 15 years, depending on the vintage. Bernard Burtschy singled out the 2009 vintage in particular, describing it as “truly Margaux through and through.”
