“Made from 100% Merlot, aged for eight months in tanks and twelve months in barrels, the estate’s 2012 vintage has won over critics: its deep color, flecked with youthful purple hues, bodes well, as does its bouquet, which blends floral notes with very ripe black berries. Its warm character is balanced by good acidity and silky tannins. A complete wine, already elegant and suitable for aging.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2016)

Guide Hachette des vins

About the wine:
No chateau name appears on the label of this great wine—a truly great wine—but rather the name of a small bridge spanning the Barbanne, a stream that marks the boundary between the major appellations of the Libournais region, almost directly across from Saint-Aignan, the village in the Fronsadais where this estate is based. Made from 100% Merlot, aged eight months in tanks and twelve in barrels, the estate’s 2012 vintage has won over the critics: its deep color, flecked with youthful violet hues, bodes well, as does its bouquet blending floral notes with very ripe black berries. Its warm character is balanced by good acidity and silky tannins. A complete wine, already elegant and suitable for aging.
About the estate:
Originally from the Fronsac region, these producers have expanded their vineyards to the other side of the Isle River, within the Lalande appellation. Rémy Rousselot, who took over the family estate in 1986, cultivates 21 hectares and offers four wines: Château Vray Hauchat, Les Roches de Ferrand (Fronsac), Pont de Guestres, and Au Pont de Guîtres (Lalande).
