Château La Rose Perrière 2013
2*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"[...] His 2013 Rose Perrière has been named a Favorite echoing the same honor it received for the 2011 vintage. Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc, hand-harvested, matured in 500-liter barrels. The result is a superb Lussac, both in its deep, dark color and its exuberant nose of black fruits and morello cherries, accented by smoky, vanilla, and spicy notes. On the palate, it is very powerful, supported by dense, silky tannins and underscored by a pleasant freshness that enhances a long finish. A wine that is already at its peak but will benefit from further cellaring.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017) - Delivered in a wooden case for orders of 6 bottles of this wine

About the wine:
“A true master of the barrel,” Jean-Luc Sylvain is nonetheless a distinguished winemaker. This is evidenced by La Perrière’s consistent presence in the pages of the Guide. His 2013 Rose Perrière earned a Favorite the one awarded to the 2011 vintage. Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc, harvested by hand, were aged in 500-liter barrels. The result is a superb Lussac, both in its deep, dark color and its exuberant nose of black fruits and morello cherries, accented by smoky, vanilla, and spicy notes. On the palate, it is very powerful, supported by dense, silky tannins and underscored by a pleasant freshness that enhances the long finish. This wine is already at its peak, though it will benefit from further cellaring.
About the estate:
Jean-Luc Sylvain, a renowned cooper from the Libourne region, applies his talent not only to the vessel but also to the wine itself, through two estates: Château la Perrière in Lussac, a 14-hectare estate with monastic origins acquired in 2003, and Clos les Grandes Versannes, a Saint-Émilion grand cru taken over in 2004—a small vineyard (1 hectare) planted on the sands and gravel soils of Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens, which has been in his family for three generations.
