Desmirail Castle
An iconic figure in the Margaux appellation, located in Cantenac, Château Desmirail bears the name of Jean Desmirail, a lawyer at the Bordeaux Parliament, who took over the château in the 17th century through his marriage to Demoiselle Rausan du Ribail. In 1855, it was awarded the title of Third Growth.
In 1980, Château Palmer sold the property to Lucien Lurton, a well-known figure in the Bordeaux region. Since 1992, the property has been managed by one of his ten children, Denis Lurton. With modernized production facilities, the quality of Château Desmirail's wines continues to improve, and the utmost care is taken in the vineyard and in the winemaking process to ensure the continued success of this Cru Classé.
TheDesmirail vineyardcovers around 40 hectares of vines on gravelly soil, with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot.
