Château Desmirail
An iconic figure of the Margaux appellation, located in Cantenac, Château Desmirail is named after Jean Desmirail, a lawyer at the Parliament of Bordeaux, who acquired the château in the 17th century through his marriage to Demoiselle Rausan du Ribail. In 1855, it was awarded the title of Third Growth.
In 1980, the Château Palmer company sold the property to Lucien Lurton, a renowned figure in the Bordeaux region. Since 1992, the estate has been managed by one of his ten children, Denis Lurton. With modernized production facilities, the quality of Château Desmirail’s wines continues to improve, and the utmost care is taken in tending the vineyards and crafting the wines to ensure the enduring legacy of this Cru Classé.
TheDesmirail vineyardspans some forty hectares of vines on gravelly soil, with a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot.
