Château Desmirail
An emblematic figure in the Margaux appellation, located in Cantenac, Château Desmirail bears the name of Jean Desmirail, a lawyer at the Bordeaux Parliament, who took over the château in the 17th century through his marriage to Demoiselle Rausan du Ribail. In
1980, the Château Palmer company sold the property to Lucien Lurton, a famous Bordeaux personality. Since 1992, the estate has been managed by one of his ten children, Denis Lurton. With modernized production facilities, the quality of Château Desmirail wines continues to improve, and the utmost care is taken with the vines and the wine-making process to ensure the continuity of this Cru Classé.
The Desmirail vineyard extends over some forty hectares of vines on gravelly soil, with a grape variety of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot.
