Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2017 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the wine:

Beautiful aromas of jammy red fruits, cocoa, violets, and pine; full-bodied on the palate, with a lovely texture, plenty of flavor, and freshness. Well-balanced.

About the estate:

Taken over in 2009 by Julie and Xavier Gonet-Médeville, who also own the eponymous champagne house and Château Gilette in Sauternes, this small Margaux vineyard—barely three hectares in size—is situated on deep gravel soils in the commune of Margaux. It is the quintessential example of a Margaux wine of great precision.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2017 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

The 2013 vintage is the smoothest and most delicate of the wines from this small, traditionally vinified vineyard. It is nonetheless a pleasant wine to drink while it’s still fruity.

About the estate:

A true revelation in recent vintages, this small estate was taken over by Julie and Xavier Gonet-Médeville in 2009. Its 2.5-hectare vineyard, superbly situated in Margaux, produces a refined and elegant wine that rivals many of the classified growths. The arrival of a new cellar and a new fermentation tank with the 2014 vintage will allow them to take things even further. A wonderful discovery off the well-trodden path of the classified growths.
