"A great success for this estate, which is consistently ranked among the most elegant unclassified wines of the Médoc! ~ Wine Advocate"

“Paveil de Luze reveals itself little by little. It gains in complexity and nuance as the minutes pass, highlighting the freshness of the Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by notes of blackberries and elderberry. Juicy and delicious, the wine creates a superb balance between density and elegance. Its powerful tannins are also slightly smooth and, above all, in harmony with the subtle tension provided by the acidity. This enhances the finish, both in terms of intensity and length. A truly beautiful success!” (Yves Beck 2022) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and selected shipping method)

Rated 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Following in the footsteps of five generations, Baron Frédéric de Luze took the reins of the family estate in 2004. In 1992, he founded the wine merchant firm LD Vins with his partner Thierry Decre, a company renowned for its distribution of grands crus classés. His untimely death shook Bordeaux. Since 2010, Stéphane Derenoncourt has served as a consultant. The wines remain elegant, refined, and delicate—in short, quintessentially Margaux. The 2015 vintage marked the beginning of this lovely estate’s return to the forefront, and the 2016 vintage confirms it!

About the estate:

Dating back to the 17th century, this sprawling château features a rose garden and a 32-hectare vineyard in a single block, situated on the Garonne gravel soils of the Soussans Plateau. Baron Alfred de Luze acquired the property in 1862; since 2016, it has been managed by one of his descendants, Marguerite de Luze.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker—The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

Paveil de Luze 2020 is a great success for this estate, which is consistently ranked among the most elegant unclassified wines of the Médoc. It exudes aromas of cherry, blackberry, licorice, rose petals, and pencil shavings. On the palate, it is full-bodied and vibrant, with a medium-to-full structure, supported by velvety tannins that assert themselves with a hint of youthful firmness on the finish. It will require a bit more patience than the 2019 vintage, but it is just as excellent. 2025–2050

Wine rated (2024 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Paveil de Luze 2020 offers a harmonious, ripe, and opulent bouquet, while maintaining a beautiful balance, revealing notes of black cherry, date, and marmalade. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, all balanced by a delicate acidity. It offers plenty of substance and a spicy finish; what it lacks in finesse, it makes up for with its assertive character. Give it some time. This is an underrated Gem . Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. 2027–2042.

About the wine:

The nose is rich with aromas of flowers, cherry, espresso, and blackberry. The wine is medium-bodied, polished, supple, and fresh, with an elegant finish featuring creamy, silky notes of stone fruits (red and black), chalk, and dark cocoa. It can be enjoyed young, but also has aging potential of two decades. Best enjoyed between 2025 and 2040.
