"This gem consolidates its position among the Margala elite!"

"Rauzan-Ségla 2020 is brilliant in the bottle. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied, smooth and consistent, with a deep core of vibrant fruit, beautifully refined tannins, and a harmonious, integrated profile that exudes elegance. A wine of immense character and refinement. This is the estate's best recent vintage. Wine rating (2024 guide) 2 stars (Outstanding wine)

About wine:

After two magnificent vintages, 2018 and 2019, Rauzan-Ségla has produced a 2020 that stands up well in comparison. With a beautiful deep color, it reveals a refined and complex nose of plum, blackcurrant, flowers, chocolate, and mint against a backdrop of smoky notes. The palate is devilishly silky, with great elegance and freshness around firm yet velvety tannins that are perfectly chiseled, and a long finish that lingers on the fruit. 2028-2040

Wine rated (2024 guide) 98/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

Another admirable success for this vintage at the peak of refinement. The palate is perfectly balanced, harmonious, and consistent, with vibrant fruit notes and very well-structured, silky tannins. All this without lacking power and volume.

About the estate:

Château Rauzan-Ségla is performing at a high level. We are struck by the brightness of the fruit in the 2019 and the wine's ability to digest its great maturity. It finishes with taffeta tannins, refreshing acidity, and a hint of mint; impressive in density, with fruit that is more candied than in 2018, but with plenty of charm and depth. It finishes with a hint of cocoa and very delicate tannins. We also had the opportunity to taste some more "ready-to-drink" vintages again, such as the 2010, which is in very good shape, and the 2006, which is fine and silky.

About wine:

Château Rauzan-Ségla 2020 is a pure gem from Margaux, and this beautifully elegant wine embodies the best of the vintage. It reveals a deep ruby/purple color and a superb bouquet of blackcurrant, black cherries, graphite, sandalwood, smoked tobacco, and hints of incense. The palate is medium-bodied to full-bodied, the mouthfeel is layered and consistent, the acidity is integrated, and the finish is superb. It offers pleasure today (although it closes up when exposed to air), but it deserves to age in the bottle for 5 to 7 years and will evolve for 30 years or more. It is clearly in the same category as the 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019 vintages. Tasted several times with consistent results. 2028–2058

About the estate:

In great vintages, Château Rauzan-Ségla offers power, finesse, and balance all at once. Very typical of Margaux, it reveals a very silky palate when the oak is not too pronounced.

About wine:

With its precision and exceptional definition, Rauzan-Ségla consolidates its position among the Margaux elite. What a great wine, what depth and subtlety, where everything is approached with finesse. It knows how to be full-bodied and slender, soft and lively, inviting and demanding. Each element has a well-defined role. The freshness of the garrigue, the intense fruitiness of raspberries and cherries, and then the tannins of rare precision, complemented by a juicy structure and a subtle bitterness that enhances the aromatic intensity and the persistence of the finish. Everything comes together to highlight the greatness of this wine. 2026-2050

About wine:

The complex aroma stands out with its range of flowers, cinnamon, currants, cherries, cigar box, and a hint of tobacco. The wine is full-bodied, deep, sensual, silky, and, yes, sexy. It finishes with an abundance of fruit, espresso, and dark cocoa that holds our attention for over 50 seconds. 2027-2060
