Rated wine (2024 guide) 2*Stars (Outstanding wine)

About the wine:

Following two magnificent vintages, 2018 and 2019, Rauzan-Ségla has produced a 2020 that certainly holds its own in comparison. With a beautiful depth of color, it reveals a refined and complex nose of plum, blackcurrant, flowers, chocolate, and mint, set against a backdrop of smoky notes. On the palate, it offers a devilishly silky texture, plenty of elegance and freshness, with firm yet velvety tannins that are perfectly refined, and a long finish that lingers with fruit. 2028–2040

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

Yet another remarkable success for this vintage, which epitomizes refinement. On the palate, it strikes the perfect balance, harmonious and cohesive, with vibrant fruit notes and well-integrated, silky tannins. All this without sacrificing power or body.

About the estate:

Château Rauzan-Ségla is performing at a high level. We are struck by the 2019’s vibrant fruit and the wine’s ability to handle its high ripeness. It finishes with velvety tannins, refreshing acidity, and a hint of mint; impressively dense, with fruit that is more concentrated than in 2018, yet full of charm and depth. It finishes on a note of cocoa, with tannins that remain very delicate. We also had the opportunity to taste again some vintages that are more “ready to drink,” such as the 2010, which is in excellent form, or the 2006, which is refined and silky.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 98/100

About the wine:

The 2020 Château Rauzan-Ségla is a true gem of Margaux, and this magnificently elegant wine embodies the best of the vintage. It reveals a deep ruby-purple color and a superb bouquet of blackcurrant, black cherries, graphite, sandalwood, smoked tobacco, and hints of incense. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with a layered and harmonious mouthfeel; the acidity is well-integrated, and the finish is superb. It offers pleasure right now (though it closes up when exposed to air), but it deserves to age in the bottle for 5 to 7 years and will continue to evolve for 30 years or more. It is clearly in the same league as the 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019 vintages. Tasted on multiple occasions with consistent results. 2028–2058

About the wine:

With its precision and exceptional clarity, Rauzan-Ségla solidifies its place among the elite of the Margaux region. What a great wine—such depth and subtlety, where every element is handled with finesse. It is at once full-bodied and elegant, smooth and lively, inviting yet demanding. Each element plays a well-defined role. The freshness of the garrigue, the intense fruitiness of raspberries and cherries, and then tannins of rare precision, complemented by a juicy structure and a subtle bitterness that enhances the aromatic intensity and the persistence of the finish. Everything comes together to highlight the greatness of this wine. 2026–2050

Wine rated (2023 guide) 98/100

About the wine:

The complex bouquet is characterized by notes of flowers, cinnamon, redcurrants, cherries, cigar box, and a hint of tobacco. The wine is full-bodied, deep, sensual, silky, and, yes, sexy. It finishes with an abundance of fruit, espresso, and dark cocoa that lingers on the palate for over 50 seconds. 2027–2060
