Château Sigognac
Château Sigognac, classified as a Médoc Cru Bourgeois in 1932, is located on the Saint-Yzans plain, on the ruins of a Roman “Villa Ausone.” As early as the 18th century, Château Sigognac wine was exported to many countries. In fact, the Compagnie des Indes museum in Lorient houses a model of a ship, fitted out in 1740, on which barrels stamped “Sigognac” are stored.
After passing through many hands, Château Sigognac came into the possession of Mr. Paul-François Grasset, at which time only 4 hectares of vineyards remained. Since then, the vineyard has been restored and expanded through the purchase of 15 hectares that had been part of Sigognac in the 19th century. In March 2009, the owners sold the château to Vignobles Allard SAS.
Château Sigognac continues on the path of modernization while reviving the traditions and expertise that have always made its wine a highly prized vintage.
