Château Gressier, Grand Poujeaux
Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux belongs to the Merlaut family, who also own the famous Château Chasse-Spleen. In 1700, Château Gressier—named after its founder—began its history as a standalone estate on the hillside of Grand Poujeaux. Having become the incubator from which Chasse-Spleen emerged, the two estates coexisted for nearly two centuries before eventually merging. But one difference would remain. The offshoot would become the parent: Chasse-Spleen, having acquired Gressier, reshaped the boundaries of the original estate. The plots of the two wine-growing estates situated on the gravelly hilltop of Grand Poujeaux have remained intertwined like the fingers of two joined hands.

The vineyard of Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux is located on the hilltop of Grand Poujeaux, named after the village. This magnificent terroir is situated amidst its prestigious neighbors, Chasse-Spleen and Poujeaux.

Remaining faithful to the traditional blend—50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot—the Merlaut family, through Jacques’s granddaughter, Céline Villars, and her husband Jean-Pierre Foubet, has repositioned Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux in the traditional market by entrusting it to Bordeaux wine merchants. The wine has benefited from the technical and empirical approach of the Chasse-Spleen team. It has gained in clarity, fruitiness, and smoothness.
