Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux

Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux belongs to the Merlaut family, who also own the famous Château Chasse-Spleen. In 1700, Château Gressier, named after its creator, began its history alone on the hilltop of Grand Poujeaux. It became the cocoon from which Chasse-Spleen emerged, and the two properties rubbed shoulders for nearly two centuries before merging. But one difference remained. The offshoot became the matrix: Chasse-Spleen, having bought Gressier, reshaped the contours of the original property. The plots of the two wine-growing entities located on the gravelly hilltop of Grand Poujeaux remained intertwined like the fingers of two joined hands.

The vineyard of Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux is located on the hilltop of Grand Poujeaux, named after the village. This magnificent terroir is situated between its prestigious neighbors, Chasse-Spleen and Poujeaux.

Remaining faithful to the traditional blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot, the Merluts, through Jacques' granddaughter Céline Villars and her husband Jean-Pierre Foubet, are repositioning Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux on the traditional market by entrusting it to Bordeaux négociants. The wine has benefited from the technical and empirical approach of the Chasse-Spleen team. It has gained in clarity, fruitiness, and smoothness.
