About wine:
Deep garnet in color, the 2016 D'Armailhac opens with aromas of creamy blackcurrant, blackberry tart, and blackberries with notes of chocolate box, roses, and charcoal with a hint of dried sage. Medium-bodied, the palate has a rock-solid structure, firm, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, with a long, earthy finish.

Wine rated (2019 guide) 17,5/20 (Great wine)
Rated estate (2016 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About wine:
The densest and most powerful in the history of the vintage. Nevertheless, it retains a great deal of elegance and balance thanks to a perfectly balanced acidity. An absolute delight.
About the estate:
Effectively managed by the Mouton Rothschild team, Château d'Armailhac represents excellent value for wine lovers. Its very reasonable price and consistent quality make it a must-have wine. Its location on gravelly hilltops close to Mouton Rothschild and Pontet Canet is excellent, and the grape varieties include a good percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. Under the leadership of Philippe Dhalluin, the wine has gained in structure over the past decade, and it is always fun to compare it to its stablemate Clerc Millon, which relies more on Merlot.
Wine Enthusiast
Wine rated (2019 guide) 90/100
About wine:
This is a mature wine, full of black fruit with appealing tannins. It has depth, but the wine is more fruit-forward and reveals a relatively rapid development. Already delicious and slightly spicy, this wine should be enjoyed from 2022 onwards.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2019 guide) 95/100
About wine:
This is a very well-executed d'Armailhac, displaying blackcurrant and fruit tea with hints of bark on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, very firm and structured with a long, powerful finish. Direct and linear. Try after 2023.
