Château Clerc Milon
Château Clerc Milon was acquired in 1970 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, who undertook to restore it to its Cru Classé status. Thanks to Baroness Philippine, Clerc Milon, one of the most highly regarded châteaux in the Bordeaux region, now boasts technical facilities and reception areas worthy of its reputation.
Château Clerc Milon now has 40 hectares of vines, located in the northeastern part of the Pauillac appellation. It occupies most of the beautiful Mousset hilltop overlooking the Gironde. Viticulture is practiced in an integrated manner, respecting the environment and strictly limiting the use of phytosanitary products. The vineyard is carefully monitored and subject to strict plot selection, which is on a par with that practiced at Château Mouton Rothschild.
The new vat room has been designed to adapt to the mosaic of plots and provide maximum flexibility in the reception of grapes. During the harvest, the grapes are picked entirely by hand, as at Mouton, and placed in 12-kilogram crates.
Château Clerc Milon is aged for 16 to 18 months, with 40% in new oak barrels. The humidity in the cellar is maintained at around 80% using ultrasonic humidifiers, and the temperature fluctuates between 14 and 16°C. A wine with excellent aging potential, Château Clerc Milon is a successful blend of gravelly and clay-limestone terroirs, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape varieties. Powerful, tannic, fruity, and harmoniously structured, it possesses all the elegance typical of the best Pauillac wines.
