Château Duhart-Milon
Château Duhart-Milon’s vineyard extends almost a full block to the west of Château Lafite Rothschild, on the Milon hillside, which is an extension of Lafite’s Carruades plateau. The Château Duhart-Milon estate comprises 76 hectares of vineyards in the Pauillac appellation. The soils consist of fine gravel mixed with wind-blown sand over a subsoil of Tertiary limestone. The vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (67%) and Merlot (33%). The average age of the vines is 30 years.

Since 1962, the estate has been managed by a single team overseeing both Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Duhart-Milon, given the proximity of the two properties. Charles Chevallier, Director of the Estates, is assisted by Christophe Congé, oenologist and winemaker, and Régis Porfilet, vineyard manager.

The techniques used at Château Duhart-Milon are identical to those at Château Lafite Rothschild and remain traditional; they include strict yield control, hand-harvesting, and numerous tasks performed manually throughout the year. The estate’s (Château Duhart-Milon, Moulin de Duhart, and Baron de Milon) average annual production is 30,000 cases of fine Pauillac wine, bottled at the château.
