Château Couhins
Château Couhins is owned by the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA), which acquired it in 1968. Located in Villenave d'Ornon, just outside Bordeaux, and under the direction of Dominique Forget, Château Couhins is once again on the rise, now ranking alongside its peers in the Graves Grand Crus Classés classification.
The Château Couhins vineyard, which spans 19 hectares of red wine grapes and 6 hectares of white wine grapes, serves as a vast field for viticultural experimentation, research, and production. The terroir consists of a gravelly hilltop, a clay slope on a limestone base, and a sandy-clay area. Sustainable, environmentally friendly farming practices are applied to the vines, and the best techniques in winemaking and aging are employed.
Château Couhins wines are renowned for their quality, featuring a Grand Cru- classified white wine that stands out for its delicate bouquet of spring flowers, its fullness, and its liveliness, and a red wine with supple tannins and refined aromas, displaying great finesse on both the nose and the palate.
