"The typical characteristics of La Mission are truly present. Aromas of iodine, oyster shell, blackcurrant, and orange peel are evident. Full-bodied, tight, and tannic with a muscular and tonic texture that holds the wine back for now, but it is waiting to release its joy and true nature. Fine-grained. Give it until 2023 before tasting." A sacred charm! (James Suckling 2017) • Delivery in wooden cases for all orders of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Point Relais delivery method).

Wine rated 18.5/20 (Wine of exceptional quality)
Rated estate (2021 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About wine:
As generous and accomplished as ever in terms of texture, tannin integration, and flavor complexity.
About the estate:
While awaiting new facilities, as with its big brother Haut-Brion, Mission continues to delight us with its velvety, wonderfully complex wine, a superb expression of Merlot grown on deep gravel soils (often more than 50% of the blend) and an exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon that we dream of tasting on its own one day! The white wine, dominated by Sémillon, is still unrivalled in Bordeaux in terms of aromatic nobility and complexity.

About the estate:
Separated from Château Haut-Brion only by the RN 250 road and united with it since 1983 as part of the Clarence Dillon estates, this cru stands out for its history. This history is linked to the powerful Lestonnac family until 1682, then, until the Revolution, to the Lazarist Fathers of Saint-Vincent, who recognized the remarkable qualities of its gravelly terroir, now planted with 29 hectares of vines, including 3.6 hectares of white grapes.

About wine:
Mission Haut Brion 2014 is a blend of 54% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested between September 15 and October 8 and aged in 55% new oak. It has retained its engagingly fresh and vibrant bouquet, with the shy character it displayed in the barrel replaced by a more extroverted personality. It has an exquisite bouquet with pure black fruits, cold stone fruits, a hint of black olive and later a suggestion of boysenberry jam. The palate is still structured and, given that the majority is Merlot, quite masculine. There is still some new oak to be fully assimilated, although there is clearly fruit to soak it up. It comes to life in the second half with a nice spiciness and impressive persistence.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 17,5/20 (Great wine)
Rated estate (2020 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)
About the estate:
The château has gravelly soil that is slightly richer than that of Haut-Brion, which lies opposite. If we were to define the specific characteristics of this famous wine based on the vintages we have tasted, we would say that it is very similar to Château Haut-Brion. It has the same qualities of suppleness and mellowness (which in no way prevent long and glorious developments in the bottle), as well as the same highly original smoky bouquet. Its mouthfeel, on the other hand, is quite different, more mellow, deeper when young, and more charming, as it is easier to understand in its early years. With age, La Mission yields to Haut-Brion in terms of complexity of style and pure finesse, but surpasses its neighbor in voluptuous texture. As you can see, these two cousins, vinified by the same team and with the same high standards, are perfect reflections of their own terroirs and grape variety choices.

About wine:
Richly endowed, the wine is beautifully concentrated. Still young, it has considerable potential with its rich fruit and firm tannins. There is a strongly juicy aftertaste that brings the freshness of the year. The wine will age well and should not be drunk before 2026.
