Clos René
A family-owned estate that has been passed down from generation to generation for over a century, the Clos René vineyard is located in the town of Pomerol, 40
kilometers northeast of Bordeaux, on the right bank.
In the past, the estate
was listed on the Belleyme Map (1764) under the name
“Reney.”
Today, it is Jean-Marie Garde, the grandson and successor of
Pierre Lasserre, who brings all his care and expertise to the cultivation and
winemaking at the estate.
At Clos René, we have chosen to use sustainable farming practices to produce
the healthiest crops possible.
The Clos René vineyard covers 12 hectares of sandy-gravelly soil resting on a subsoil of iron-rich clay.
The vineyard is planted with 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Malbec in the Pomerol appellation.
While it may not be the most publicized or the most renowned of the Pomerol estates, Clos René is nonetheless remarkable for the consistency of its vintages.
