Château de Pressac
The Pressac Castle dates back to the Middle Ages, and traces of that period can still be seen, notably in its fortified gate. In the early 18th century, the Vassal de Montviel introduced a grape variety native to Quercy to the estate; it was renamed "Noir de Pressac" and eventually came to be more commonly known as Malbec. In 1997, the Pressac Castle was acquired by the Quenin family, who would go on to elevate the estate to the highest level, as in 2012 the Pressac Castle has been promoted to Grand Cru Classé.
The vineyard of the Pressac Castle covers 41 hectares in a single block and consists of six grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carménère, Noir de Pressac, and Petit Verdot.
