Château de Pressac
The Pressac Castle dates back to the Middle Ages, and traces of this period still exist, notably in its gate. At the beginning of the 18th century, the Vassal de Montviel introduced a grape variety originating from Quercy to the estate, which was renamed "Noir de Pressac" and eventually became more commonly known as Malbec. In 1997, the Pressac Castle was acquired by the Quenin family, who would take the estate to the highest level, as in 2012 the Pressac Castle is promoted to Grand Cru Classé.
The vineyard of Pressac Castle covers 41 hectares in a single block and consists of six grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carménère, Noir de Pressac, and Petit Verdot.
