Château Chauvin
Acquired in May 2014 by Sylvie Cazes, the Château Chauvin is a beautiful 15-hectare estate located northwest of Saint-Emilion, halfway between Cheval-Blanc and the Butte de Rol, near the Pomerol appellation.

The vineyard of the Château Chauvin It stretches in a single continuous block around the building, thereby facilitating the work of the teams throughout the vine’s growth cycle. It is planted primarily with Merlot—the premier grape variety in Saint-Émilion—on sandy-clay soils. To best respect the terroir and bring out its distinctive characteristics, the vineyard is managed using sustainable practices.

Since acquiring Château Chavin, Sylvie Cazes has conducted a study of the soil, carried out the grubbing-up and replanting of certain plots, and invested in new harvest equipment. She has also implemented soil cultivation practices and introduced a new drainage system. It is through this work in the vineyard that Château Chavin’s winemaking style is defined year after year.
