Château Chauvin
Acquired in May 2014 by Sylvie Cazes, the Château Chauvin is a beautiful 15-hectare estate located northwest of Saint-Émilion, halfway between Cheval-Blanc and La Butte de Rol, near the Pomerol appellation.

The vineyard of the Château Chauvin It stretches in a single continuous block around the building, making it easier for the teams to work throughout the vine’s growing cycle. It is planted mainly with Merlot, the dominant grape variety in Saint-Emilion, on sandy-clay soils. To best respect the terroir and fully express its distinctive characteristics, the vineyard is managed using sustainable practices.

Since acquiring Château Chavin, Sylvie Cazes has conducted a soil analysis, carried out the grubbing-up and replanting of certain plots, and invested in new harvesting equipment. She has also implemented soil management practices and introduced a new drainage system. It is through this work in the vineyard that Château Chavin’s wine style is defined year after year.
