"A truly beautiful wine—Yves Beck"

“There’s a lot of freshness in this bouquet, where the fruity notes are also beautifully highlighted. I even detect hints of truffle as well as a chalky touch. Fruity and juicy on the palate, where the wine is perfectly supported by its tannins and the tension of its acidic structure. A truly beautiful wine that deserves a little aging to fully blossom. ” (Yves Beck 2020) - Delivered in a wooden crate for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (excluding “Point Relais” delivery method)

About the estate:

The “Great Walls,” one of the landmarks of the medieval town of Saint-Émilion, are the remains of a 12th-century Benedictine monastery. The small adjoining vineyard (2 hectares planted exclusively with Merlot) had belonged to the Reiffers family since 1643, as had La Côte de Baleau (11 hectares in a single block on the outskirts of the village). These two classified growths, which Sophie Fourcade (née Reiffers)—who has been at the helm since 1998—has elevated to the status of reliable staples of the appellation, were acquired in 2013 by Philippe Cuvelier, owner of Clos Fourtet.

About the wine:

A small harvest due to downy mildew, but a truly beautiful wine! Deep in color, with exuberant and nuanced fruitiness and a hint of candied blueberry. Rich flavor, velvety texture, good acidity—sexy...

About the estate:

A discreet but significant cru, Côte de Baleau is located on the plateau, between clay-limestone and clay-sandy soils. Displaying fine consistency without striving for peak intensity, it quickly develops a distinctive, well-rounded, and expressive character. Along with Les Grandes Murailles, the estate was sold by the Reiffers family to the Cuvelier family (Clos Fourtet) in 2013. The Cuveliers have since produced a fine series of vintages, capitalizing on the momentum of a cru that was first classified in 2012. This wine still offers excellent value for the price.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92/100 (Exceptional wine)

About the wine:

Elegant, with notes of creamy plum and cherry reduction supported by a velvety structure, featuring hints of anise, black tea, and incense. The finish is precise and delicately grainy, with a subtle minerality that lingers at the very end.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Red berries, blackcurrant, and vanilla. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and a rich texture. Smooth, with some structure from the oak. A good finish of medium length. Best enjoyed after 2023.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

This bouquet is full of freshness, with the fruity notes also coming through beautifully. I even detect hints of truffle and a touch of chalk. On the palate, it’s fruity and juicy, with the wine perfectly supported by its tannins and the tension of its acidity. A truly beautiful wine that deserves a little aging to fully blossom. 2025–2045
