Château Fonroque

Château Fonroque is the Moueix family’s ancestral home in Saint-Émilion, acquired in 1931 by Jean and Adèle, the great-grandparents of Alain Moueix, who manages this lovely vineyard.

Maintenance of the Château Fonroque vineyard is based on a regular replanting program combined with drainage improvements. The practice of thinning the grapes, particularly in young vines, is systematically applied. In the cellar, the introduction of meticulous barrel management and rigorous blending contribute significantly to the wines’ quality. A substantial financial investment was made in 1993, resulting in the construction of a second barrel cellar, a bottling room, and a tasting room. The winemaking process, grounded in vineyard management that prioritizes fundamental balance, produces wines of exceptional quality.

Alain Moueix took over management of the family estate in 2001. Each generation leaves its mark on Château Fonroque, and this one is no exception to the tradition.
