Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Rated estate (2012 guide) 2 stars (Successful production)
About the estate:
The two small hectares under the banner of Château Les Grandes Murailles are planted around the ruins of a Gothic church, which once housed the Dominican order; the vineyards are planted exclusively with Merlot grapes. The wines are aged entirely in new barrels, stored in troglodytic cellars carved into the limestone. Significantly larger, with 18 hectares, the Côte de Baleau vineyard grows Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The entire estate benefits from the expert advice of renowned oenologist Michel Rolland.

Rated estate (2012 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About the estate:
A tiny vineyard covering barely two hectares, this château takes its name from the ruins of a Gothic church, a symbol of Saint-Emilion. Located on the edge of the village, its wines are produced in remarkable underground cellars. Grandes Murailles is the direct neighbor of the Premier Grand Cru Clos Fourtet. Its terroir, of very high quality, has been perfectly enhanced in recent years by the Reiffers family, who have been carefully nurturing it for several years now. Difficult to find, the wines have been remarkable for a good decade."
