Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2020 guide) 16,5/20 (Reference wine)
Rated 3*Stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
The blend emphasizes freshness and a well-structured profile. This wine is not yet very expressive, but aging and time should allow the beautiful body that is evident on the finish to fully reveal its potential.
About the estate:
The family-owned Clarence Dillon company (Château Haut-Brion) has combined the former Château Tertre-Daugay and its neighbor, Château L’Arrosée, into a single estate—totaling 28 hectares—with terroirs that rank among the best in Saint-Émilion due to their diverse soil types, ranging from limestone to clay-limestone. Since 2014, the wine has truly been able to hold its own against the classified growths, and its quality continues to rise. The wine displays firm yet smooth tannins, which have become more defined since the blend was increased to include up to 30% Cabernet Franc.
Decanter
Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
It has body and texture, with concentrated notes of blueberry and blackberry. The toasted oak is a bit dominant, but it is still extremely young and needs time to settle and begin to open up.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine noted (guide 2022) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
Skillfully blending generosity and finesse, this vintage offers a modern Saint-Émilion, characterized by very ripe fruit and rather luxurious woody notes. The palate is dense, with a solid tannic structure yet not lacking in freshness. A well-structured, powerful wine that is still tight at this stage, but will age beautifully thanks to its excellent balance.

Rated Estate (2019 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
The wine’s beautiful structure and flattering, almost full-bodied proportions are further confirmed after a year in the bottle. The only slight drawback is a hint of woodiness in the dry tannins, but the sweetness of the Merlot lingers on the palate after the finish, making this a bottle well-suited for aging.
About the estate:
Formerly Château Tertre-Daugay, it was renamed after its acquisition by Domaines Clarence Dillon (Haut-Brion) during the 2011 harvest. The estate expanded with the purchase of 13 hectares from Château l’Arrosée (which will no longer be produced) in October 2013. The technical teams at Haut-Brion, led by Jean-Philippe Delmas, are actively working to bring together the best plots from both vineyards. There are high expectations for this takeover of a historic Saint-Émilion cru. The second wine is named Le Dragon de Quintus, a reference to the statue that now overlooks the western part of Saint-Émilion from Tertre Daugay.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
This bouquet is full of character, with notes of red and black berries followed by chalky nuances and a hint of smokiness. On the palate, the wine stands out for its compact, refined character. It boasts good aromatic intensity and fine-grained tannins that harmonize with the tension of its acidic structure. A fine achievement from Quintus! 2023–2033
Jean-Marc Quarin
Wine rated (2022 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Dark, intense, and deep color. A very aromatic nose, with remarkably fresh fruitiness despite the 15.5° alcohol content. When swirled, the wine becomes more radiant, evoking Grenache and Syrah. Meticulously crafted on the palate, it is particularly fruity in the mid-palate—full-bodied and caressing—with, above all, a beautiful vibrancy that brightens the wine’s texture; the finish is smooth and even fragrant. It exudes a sense of surprising delicacy for such a rich wine. It is superb.
