Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 16/20 (Very good wine)

Estate rated (2018 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Floral, persistent and silky, this is a wine of great charm.

About the domain :

At the level of the grands crus classés, this grand cru on clay-limestone and sandy soils displays a fine consistency.

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated wine (2016 guide) Cited (Successful wine)

About the wine:

Smoky, toasty notes, red fruits, a touch of leather and pepper, the nose is affable. The palate is round, fleshy and suave, echoing the fruity and spicy aspects of the olfaction. The tannins are velvety, but more austere on the finish, and the oak has yet to melt. Promising.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)

Estate rated (2017 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Immediate, tender, smooth, very approachable, with an impression of sweetness that completely coats the structure, the very Merlot 2012 offers itself with undeniable charm, an exuberant and melted flavor.

About the domain :

Its absence seems an injustice in the 2012 ranking, given the consistency and quality of the wines from this cru, which was one of the region's flagship garage wines. Founded in 1994 by former professional soccer player Eric Prissette, and vinified under the guidance of Stephane Derenoncourt, the domaine quickly established itself with seductive, round and suave wines. The parcels are planted on two different sites: one in the eastern part of the appellation, near Valandraud in Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, the other in the western part, near Clos de Jacobins. Sold in 2009 to Alexandra and Nicolas Robin, Rol Valentin continues to grow without faltering. More complexity (in the articulation of the material as well as in the aromas) would nevertheless consolidate the star.
