Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2019 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the estate:
An excellent Saint-Estèphe, a true expression of a great terroir, and one that is still relatively unknown to many—which explains its reasonable and affordable prices.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
A genuine family estate, still inhabited—a rarity—by its owners. In the same family since 1922, Cos Labory is the home of Bernard Audoy, the current president of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The estate was part of Cos d’Estournel until 1810, when it was purchased by François Labory. With an area that is relatively modest for a classified growth (18 ha), its vineyards are divided into three large sections, one of which is crescent-shaped and lies to the west of the château. All consist of gravel, but rest on more or less clay-rich subsoils.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2018 guide) 92/100 (Excellent wine)
Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Deep purple-garnet in color, the 2016 Cos Labory opens with aromas of blackcurrant, plums, and herbs, along with hints of black earth and pencil lead. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, elegant, and fresh, with fine tannins and lovely purity, and finishes with a long aftertaste.

Wine rated (2019 guide) 17/20 (Great wine)
Rated estate (2019 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
Although it’s still a bit disjointed at this stage, it shows great promise, with vibrant fruit and an irresistibly rich balance. A wine that is expected to age beautifully.
About the estate:
Though a relatively low-key classified growth from Saint-Estèphe, Cos Labory is by no means lacking in merits. The Audoy family, which runs the estate, produces a very classic wine, often a bit austere in its youth but one that ages elegantly over time. Far removed from current modern trends, Cos Labory—which was separated from Cos d’Estournel during the French Revolution—has produced some interesting wines in recent vintages, at prices that remain very reasonable.

Wine rated (2019 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
A classic Saint-Estèphe wine with a firm structure. The tannins are still a bit harsh alongside the black fruit and will need time to soften. This rich, fruity wine shows great potential; it should be cellared until 2024.
