Previously reserved for the estate's owners and staff, this is Montrose's third blend, made from younger vines and wines aged on lees. Produced on the exceptional terroir of Château Montrose and vinified by its teams, Montrose's Saint-Estèphe reveals a discreet, floral nose accompanied by delicate notes of violet, raspberry, toasted and spicy aromas. Full-bodied and fleshy on the palate, it reveals beautiful tannic power, balanced by a pleasant freshness.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2021 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About the estate:
The property belonged to the Charmolüe family (now based in Provence, at Château Romanin) for over a century. Purchased in 2005 by Martin and Olivier Bouygues, the estate has continued on its path to excellence. The new owners and their teams have taken care not to change the style, but to perfect viticulture and winemaking to adapt them to the ecological and cultural requirements of our time. The second wine, Dame-de-Montrose, produced in significant volumes, has improved in consistency and expression of the terroir. The latest vintages, at the top of the Médoc, are easily on a par with the first growths.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2021 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
Entrepreneurs Martin and Olivier Bouygues have owned this famous classified growth since 2006. They expertly cultivate one of the Médoc's finest terroirs, which has repeatedly distinguished itself in the past by producing wines that can reach, or even exceed, the level of the first growths. When the year is hot and dry, as was the case in 2003, 2009, 2010, and even 2011, Montrose offers exceptional distinction. Hervé Berland, who now manages it, is taking it to a level of definition and precision never before seen here. It is approaching a third star.

Good, well-balanced, still young but a little too expensive for the quality/price ratio.
