"A great deal for the appellation!"
“Serilhan 2016 is a delight. It boasts a magnificent, well-defined bouquet, with aromas of blackberry, cigar box, and smoke that gently unfold in the glass. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with succulent black and red fruit, very fine tannins, a touch of quality new oak, but more than enough fruit, and a long, sensual finish. Absolutely appealing, this wine is a true seducer from Saint-Estèphe! (Wine Advocate 2017). This Médoc Cru Bourgeois is an excellent value offering immediate pleasure!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2017 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Didier Marcelis took over management of the family estate in 2003. Across the 24 hectares of vineyards, significant efforts have been made to improve the quality of the wines, particularly with the guidance of Hubert de Boüard (Château Angélus). Today, the three wines produced—Sérilhan, Moutinot, and Mignot—form a thoroughly successful trio, consistently dense and complex, yet having gained in refinement and finesse since Hubert de Boüard’s arrival.

Wine rated (2017 guide) 92/100
About wine:
Full-bodied, rich, and incredibly aromatic, this wine possesses the vigor of a typical St-Estèphe from this vintage. It offers subtle notes of dark chocolate dusted with cocoa, along with a silky, well-balanced character. It should offer good value for money and serve as an excellent example of the appellation in this vintage. Very fine. 2025–2040

Rated estate (2010 guide) Cité
About the estate:
The château was managed by Louis Merlet from 1983 to 2002. Today, his two grandsons, Didier and Thierry Marcellis, are at the helm. In the meantime, the merger with Château Moutinot expanded the estate’s size from 1.2 hectares—a plot located in the hamlet of Pez—to 19 hectares in 2004. The château began to gain recognition in 1998, when it renewed its barrel stock. Today, the wines are remarkable for their density.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 92/100
About wine:
The 2016 Sérilhan boasts a magnificent bouquet, quite vibrant and generous, with rich aromas of blackberry and raspberry complemented by hints of violet and briny notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with a slight grip, fairly balanced and concentrated, and impressive precision on the finish. The power of this wine is tempered in favor of the elegance of this Saint-Estèphe. 2019–2034
