Château du Glana
Château du Glana is owned by Gabriel Meffre, a renowned nurseryman from Vaucluse, who bought it in 1961. In the years that followed, he expanded the Château du Glana vineyard from 5 to 43 hectares, thanks to the successive acquisition of several plots belonging to Château Lagrange, a Third Growth in Saint-Julien, near Bordeaux. Jean-Paul Meffre, assisted by his two young sons Ludovic and Julien, now manages the estate and has great ambitions for it: to develop its untapped potential. Nestled among the greatest Médoc classified growths, Château du Glana has enjoyed unprecedented and consistent improvement in quality since 1999.
Year after year, extensive work based on in-depth analysis and a complete overhaul of the Château du Glana vineyard has resulted in the production of modern wines that embody the elegance, spirit, and authenticity of the exceptional terroirs from which they originate. The complete restoration of the Château du Glana buildings (wine cellar, harvest reception area, barrel cellar, offices, reception room), the care taken in the vineyard, and the advice of Professor Denis Dubourdieu on winemaking have all contributed to a judicious balance between modern methods and respect for tradition, resulting in balanced, velvety, complex wines that can be enjoyed in their youth while offering more than ten years of aging potential. Château du Glana and Pavillon de Glana, its second wine, are made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc vines grown using sustainable methods and ripened on Garonne gravel soil.
