Château du Glana
Château du Glana is owned by Gabriel Meffre, a renowned nurseryman from the Vaucluse region, who bought it in 1961. In the years that followed, he increased the size of the Château du Glana vineyard from 5 to 43 hectares, thanks to the successive acquisition of several parcels belonging to Château Lagrange, Third Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien, near Bordeaux. Today, Jean-Paul Meffre, assisted by his two young sons Ludovic and Julien, is in charge of the estate, and has great ambitions for it: to develop its untapped potential. Nestled among the Médoc's greatest classified growths, Château du Glana has enjoyed unprecedented, steady progress in quality since 1999.
Year after year, in-depth reflection and a complete overhaul of the Château du Glana vineyard have resulted in the production of modern wines that embody the elegance, spirit and authenticity of the exceptional terroirs from which they come. The complete restoration of the Château du Glana buildings (vat room, harvest reception area, barrel cellar, offices, reception room), the care given to the vineyards and Professor Denis Dubourdieu's advice on winemaking all combine to achieve a judicious balance between modern methods and respect for tradition, resulting in well-balanced, velvety, complex wines that can be enjoyed young and kept for over ten years. Château du Glana and Pavillon de Glana, its second wine, are made from Cabernet-Sauvigon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines grown using sustainable methods, and matured on Garonne gravel soil.
