“This top-quality vintage is every bit as good as its famous neighbors in Saint-Julien. Highly recommended!”

“What sets it apart at tasting is its absolutely refined aging. It possesses all the characteristics of the vintage: concentration, ripeness, but also a beautiful balance underpinned by a lively acidity and very fine tannins. All of this comes together to create a flavorful, dense, and smooth palate. The barrel aging seems to envelop the wine in a thick silk fabric, scented with coffee and incense. Don’t forget to order it for delivery.” (Terre de Vins 2020) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 12 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable vintage, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Located across from Château Ducru-Beaucaillou in Saint-Julien, this estate is currently managed by Ludovic and Julien Meffre. The family also owns Château Lalande and Château Bellegrave in Pauillac. The wines produced here are elegant and beautifully balanced. They perfectly embody the classic image of a Saint-Julien.

Decanter

Decanter

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

A deep, inky purple color ranging from medium to full intensity. An excellent Glana, highly recommended for medium-term enjoyment within the Saint-Julien appellation. Quite broad-shouldered, as this wine often is, with clearly defined notes of blueberry and blackberry, as well as slate and crushed stone, which add depth and texture. A hint of chocolate on the finish. 2026–2042

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2023) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

About the wine:

A fine wine for aging, this wine starts off with subtle aromas before opening up with aeration to reveal woody notes of sweet spices and roasted flavors. On the palate, it displays a solid, tightly structured tannic profile and a very pleasing finish. Cellar it and save it for a nice rib of beef when it’s ready to drink. 2026–2032

Selected Winery (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the wineries listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Following the division of Château Saint-Pierre, of which it had historically been a part, Château du Glana covered just 4 hectares by the late 1950s. It owes its growth to Gabriel Meffre, a nurseryman from the Vaucluse region who acquired it in 1961 and gradually expanded its acreage to over 40 hectares. Today, his grandsons, Ludovic and Julien, run the estate, which over the past decade has undergone a complete modernization of its facilities and a revitalization of the vineyard. The wines are now top-notch: charming, supple Saint-Juliens endowed with beautiful elegance.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Tasting from the barrel. The wine’s structure is very pronounced at this stage of development. It suggests good aging potential, yet contrasts nicely with the elegance of the dark fruit and the freshness on the finish.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 91-92/100

About the wine:

Deep purple. What intensity and freshness in this bouquet! Fruity, floral, and spicy notes. I detect classic red berry notes along with a pleasant, refreshing hint of eucalyptus. On the palate, the attack is rich and creamy. Glana 2019 has body, fine tannins that unfold slowly, and a solid structure. Good aromatic intensity, from the first sip through to the finish. A wine of character that combines approachability and potential. In short, it can be enjoyed in its youth, but it has the substance to age for a few years in the cellar. 2025–2039

Deep cherry red with a hint of ruby. On the nose, an aristocratic Bordeaux style, with intense dark fruit—blackcurrant and blackberry. Also notes of undergrowth, spices, and herbal notes. Quite compact and still somewhat closed. But you can sense its character and quality. On the palate, rich blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, along with dried meat and umami notes, spiciness, celery, ink, and coffee. A firm tannic structure with fine-grained tannins. Substance, freshness, balance, and length, and above all, aging potential. A bright future. Peak in 2030. Score: 17+/20
