"Experts agree that Léoville Barton's little brother achieved its finest performance in 2020!"
Langoa Barton 2020 presents a wonderful, precise, and mineral bouquet, with subtle marine scents (oyster shells and shellfish) that emerge upon aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins. Stylistically, it is reminiscent of Léoville Barton, although it shows more control and tension in its convincing finish. Magnificent—one of the best wines of recent years, and better than the one presented just after bottling. About the estate:
A very fine Saint-Julien with a distinctive, classic style and consistent quality.

About the estate:
Commissioned by a beautiful 18th-century chartreuse, this vineyard has been owned since 1821 by the Bartons (Ch. Léoville Barton), a family of Irish origin, and is one of the few estates to have remained in the hands of the same family since the 1855 classification. Lilian Barton has been continuing this tradition since 2006, at the head of a 51-hectare vineyard divided into four large plots located between the villages of Saint-Julien and Beychevelle.

Rated estate (2019 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Although little known in France, this small vineyard produces a Saint-Julien of very fine quality. Owned by the same owners as Léoville Barton, namely Anthony Barton and his daughter Lilian, it has a similar style, with a full, generous body and a very velvety mouthfeel. However, it is slightly less deep and a little more austere when aged, but has shown exemplary consistency in recent years. Its price remains affordable and it represents very good value for money. Widely exported, it is unfortunately not easy to find in France.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 97/100
About wine:
This wine is very linear and structured, with flavors of blackcurrant, pine needles, graphite, and cedar. Intense. Full-bodied, chalky, and intense. Superb. The best of the trilogy. Drink after 2027.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 95/100
About wine:
Tasted on several occasions, Château Langoa Barton 2020 comes from different terroirs in Saint-Julien, making it an excellent representative of the vintage and the appellation. The blend is composed of 53.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and the remainder Cabernet Franc. Its deep ruby-purple color is matched by a magnificent bouquet of red and black cherries, redcurrants, tobacco leaves, cedar, with a touch of damp earth that emerges over time in the glass. The medium-bodied to full-bodied palate is balanced and elegant, with great depth and richness on the mid-palate, velvety tannins, and an excellent finish. This opulent, frank, expansive, and wonderfully textured Saint-Julien will benefit from a few years of bottle aging and will keep for around 20 years. This is the finest example of this château that I have tasted. Bravo! 2026-2046
Anthocyanes - Yohan Castaing
Wine rated (2021 guide) 95-97/100
About wine:
Deep, dense, and complex, yet fresh and slightly minty, the nose of Langoa Barton 2020 has notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, spices, and graphite with a hint of oak. The palate is fleshy and juicy, with beautiful tannins structuring the whole without being too dense or imposing. Although a little earthy and slightly austere, this bottle is nonetheless delicious and truly precise. A future great wine in the making. A success in the Médoc.
