Château de Rayne Vigneau

Rayne Vigneau Castle

Located on the highest plateau in Bommes, Château Rayne Vigneau benefits from an exceptional terroir. Its 84 hectares of vines flourish on a hilltop with sandy gravel subsoil and consist of Sémillon (74%), Sauvignon Blanc (24%), and Muscadelle (2%). In the official 1855 classification, it was awarded the rank of Premier Cru Classé de Sauternes alongside Guiraud, Lafaurie-Peyraguey, and Mouton-Rothschild. The estate's history dates back to the 17th century, when it was owned by the French royal family. In 1850, the estate was purchased by the French nobleman and industrialist Louis-Joseph de Rayne-Vigneau, who built the current château and vineyard. In 1998, the estate was acquired by the French wine merchant and industrialist Jean-Michel de Rayne-Vigneau, who renovated the château and expanded the vineyard to 84 hectares. In the official 1855 classification, it was awarded the rank ofPremier Cru Classé de Sauternes alongside Guiraud, Lafaurie-Peyraguey, and Rieussec.

After belonging to the Vigneau family and the Crédit Agricole subsidiary CA Grands Crus, the estate is now part of the Trésor du Patrimoine group. A true safe bet in the Sauternes appellation, Château de Rayne Vigneau reveals a style full of intensity, freshness, and length. Its wines can be enjoyed in their youth or kept in the cellar.
