"A Beaune 1er Cru at its best, signed Bouchard, an example of finesse and flavor..."
"Medium purple color. Quite tasty/spicy nose, almost fleshy, but perfectly clean. Elegant, with no excess of oak, revealing succulent red fruit. Dense, mellow wine, with structuring tannins, but still refined. Tasty, firm, long. Fine, very tasty texture. [...] 2024-2032" (Jancis Robinson 2022)

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2023) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
From Les Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune trading house, founded in 1731, owns over 142 parcels in 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier and Grand Cru. This first-rate winegrowing heritage enables Fréderic Weber, a talented winemaker who was previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce around 600,000 bottles out of the total three million produced here each year, with most of the production coming from purchased grapes for the great reds, and carefully selected musts for the non-domain whites. Impressive success in both white and red wines in recent vintages.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
Deep limestone/clay soil on 4.36 ha owned by Bouchard, half of which faces south and the other half north. The 2018 vintage was different from 2019, with a very wet winter followed by a hot summer, resulting in rapid growth and the need for rigorous green harvesting. Gentle punching down for slow, delicate extraction. Darker color in the glass, ripe fruit evident on the nose and palate. Soft, easy and generous texture, with very fine tannins and lower acidity than in 2019. 2022-2027

Wine rated (2022 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
A rustic, gamey nose reveals itself, with an iodine austerity superimposed on aromas of red fruits and roses. The tannins, soft at first, become rougher with age. With such power, bottle ageing until 2028 will soften the austere expression and favor a more beautiful integration.
