"A Beaune Premier Cru at its peak from Bouchard, an example of finesse and flavor..."
"Medium purple color. Quite savory/spicy nose, almost fleshy, but perfectly clean. Elegant, without excessive oak, revealing succulent red fruits. Dense, mellow wine with structuring tannins, but still refined. Savory, firm, long. Fine texture and very flavorful. [...] 2024-2032" (Jancis Robinson 2022)

Rated estate (2023 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this large Beaune-based wine merchant founded in 1731 owns more than 142 plots covering 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of premier and grand cru vineyards. This first-rate wine-growing heritage enables Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker who was previously in charge of Château de Poncié, to produce around 600,000 bottles out of the total three million units produced here each year, with most of the production coming from purchased grapes for the great reds and carefully selected musts for the whites other than those from the estate. Impressive success in both white and red wines in recent vintages.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100
About wine:
4.36 hectares of deep limestone/clay soil belonging to Bouchard, half of which faces south and half north. The 2018 vintage was different from 2019, with a very wet winter followed by a hot summer, resulting in rapid growth and the need for rigorous green harvesting. Gentle punching down for slow and delicate extraction. Darker color in the glass, with obvious ripe fruit on the nose and palate. Soft, easy, and generous texture, with very fine tannins and lower acidity than in 2019. 2022-2027

Wine rated (2022 guide) 91/100
About wine:
A rustic, gamey nose reveals itself, with a salty austerity that overlaps with aromas of red fruit and roses. The tannins, soft at first, become rougher with time. With such power, bottle aging until 2028 will soften the austere expression and promote better integration.
