Jean-Claude Boisset
Jean-Claude Boisset founded his small winery near Gevrey-Chambertin in the early 1960s. He moved to the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges, settling in a former Ursuline convent. The house’s philosophy can be summed up in three words: origin, purity, elegance.

Grégory Patriat joined the house and, in 2002, became Jean-Claude Boisset’s “winemaker.” He effectively bridges the art of winemaking with that of viticulture, serving as the link between the wine and the vineyard—the very source from which the wine is born. Grégory has the great luxury of being able to choose his grapes. He works in harmony with “his” winegrowers—the very ones who accept his stringent selection criteria and his exacting demands. In the vineyard, his requirements are very specific: yield control, debudding, green harvesting, and organic-inspired cultivation.

Jean-Claude Boisset crafts authentic wines in which the winemaker’s hand is as discreet as possible; the wines are concentrated, round, and, of course, express their terroir. The winemaker takes a back seat; the land speaks for itself.
