Aligoté
intensity

"Thirty-five-year-old Aligoté vines have produced a superb pale gold wine with silvery highlights. The intense, fresh nose evokes citrus fruits, ferns, and mint. The full-bodied, round palate is enlivened by a beautiful tonicity that extends the finish. "A true Bouzeron," exclaims one delighted judge, who highly recommends pairing it with shellfish and crustaceans." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020) A white Burgundy just the way we like it!

Food and wine pairings

Its citrus notes complement oysters, and it also pairs well with tarama and steamed or gratinated shellfish. Its sharp roundness enhances veal and poultry in white or creamy sauces, as well as mushroom risottos. Ideal as an aperitif with gougères or with starters such as parsley ham, mixed salads, quiches, etc. It is the perfect accompaniment to most goat's cheeses, Beaufort, Comté, and Cîteaux.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 15,5/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About wine:

The nose is subtle and the palate is very balanced, with controlled aging. This wine embodies the true character of the appellation, with toasted and nutty notes.

About the estate:

With 80 hectares, Maison Chanzy is one of the largest producers in the Côte Chalonnaise, producing wines from the Côte Chalonnaise to the Côte de Nuits, both on its own estate and as a négociant. The estate belongs to a group of passionate investors and shareholders who are committed to raising it to new heights. The Jessiaume family manages the technical side of the estate, practicing "bioraisonnée" viticulture and protéodie in the cellar, where the wine reacts to the frequencies of music during fermentation. The results are interesting and, although there are still a few uncertainties, we have discovered some beautiful vintages.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About wine:

Thirty-five-year-old Aligoté vines have produced a superb pale gold wine with silvery highlights. The intense, fresh nose evokes citrus fruits, ferns, and mint. The full-bodied, round palate is enlivened by a beautiful tonicity that prolongs the finish. "A true Bouzeron," exclaims a delighted judge, who highly recommends pairing it with shellfish and crustaceans.

About the estate:

Located in Bouzeron, where it owns half of the vineyards, this 80-hectare estate (in the Côte Chalonnaise, with a foothold in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits) has been run since 2013 by Jean-Baptiste Jessiaume, its manager and cellar master, who comes from a family of winegrowers in Santenay. A wine merchant completes the property. One unique feature is that malolactic fermentation takes place to music, as harmonic resonance is believed to promote the development of the grapes.

A very well-made wine at a good price. A good Burgundy, mineral, quite round, to be enjoyed without moderation at a reasonable price.

Drink in 10/20. Fresh nose. Very delicate texture on the palate. No acidity apparent, which is surprising for an Aligoté.
