Château de La Tour - Clos-Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes 2008
Ratings: Bettane & Desseauve 18.5/20, RVF 18/20, Gault Millau 17/20, Guide Hachette 2** (Remarkable Wine), Burghound 95/100, Stephan Tanzer 94/100
“More serious and refined, the Vieilles Vignes is somewhat reserved; the body appears deeper, slightly more austere, but with that extra touch of grace and complexity associated with very old vines, which here produce a wine built for long-term aging.” (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2011 - RVF)

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Rated (2012 Guide) 6* Stars (Exceptional Quality)
About the estate:
“As the only estate in the Clos that produces its own wine, Château de la Tour is also the largest landowner there, with 6 hectares located in the upper part of the Clos. The château was built in 1890 by the family’s ancestors. The current owners are two sisters, Jacqueline Labet and Nicole Delechette, and the estate has been managed since 1986 by François, Jacqueline’s son. In the 1970s and early 1980s, the wine was of little interest. It wasn’t until the young François Labet brought in Guy Accad that the estate began producing remarkable wines, such as the 1987 vintage. After Guy Accad left, the estate continued to improve, with the help of Jean-Pierre Confuron.”
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2011 guide): 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
“This château is the only one located within the Clos de Vougeot, of which it is also the principal owner. The estate began bottling its wines in the 1930s. After a significant decline in quality in the 1970s and early 1980s, the quality improved dramatically when the young François Labet brought in Guy Accad. Produced with the help of Sylvain Pataille starting with the 2009 vintage, the wine is now at its peak. Winemaking using whole clusters and aging in partially new barrels results in a wine of exceptional quality, on par with the very best.”
