“Chalky and stony notes mingle with pastry and red-to-black cherries, all leading to a palate that displays good acidity, impressive depth, and substantial tannins. A fresh vintage expression with greater intensity on the finish. This wine will age very well. Best enjoyed starting in 2024. ” (James Suckling – 2018). The only red Grand Cru in the Côte de Beaune, Corton is also a historic vineyard whose earliest records date back to the 2nd century B.C. Later, Corton became Charlemagne’s favorite wine. It is the only Grand Cru in the Côte d’Or to be divided into sub-climates. “Le Corton” refers to the historic parcel that gave its name to the Corton appellation.

About the estate:

From Cazetiers to Bouzeron, this major Beaune wine merchant founded in 1731 owns more than 142 plots spanning 130 hectares of vineyards, including 73 hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. This first-rate viticultural heritage enables Frédéric Weber, a talented winemaker who previously managed Château de Poncié, to produce approximately 600,000 bottles out of the total three million produced here each year; the majority of production comes from purchased grapes for the great reds and from carefully selected musts for the whites, other than those from the estate. Impressive success with both whites and reds in recent vintages.
