“This sparkling ruby-red Premier Cru reveals a rich and powerful nose of red berries accented with hints of caramel. On the palate, it is dense, silky, round, and concentrated, with depth and plenty of freshness—a rare quality in this hot, sunny vintage. A great success.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2018)

Wine rated (2018 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the wine:

Soft, light, and delicate, it is well-made. Its style is both straightforward and alluring.

About the estate:

Benoît Eschard, an engineer from Arts et Métiers, decided in 2013 to take over this former family estate in Mercurey from his uncle. The estate spans 8.6 hectares, 7 of which are classified as Premier Cru. He has redefined, vintage by vintage, every step of the process from the vineyard to the cellar to realize the estate’s full potential. This approach appears to be paying off, as we observe real progress each year during our blind tastings.

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2018) 2* Favorite (Remarkable wine)

Rated estate (2018 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the wine:

This sparkling ruby-red Premier Cru reveals a rich and powerful nose of red berries accented with hints of caramel. On the palate, it is dense, silky, round, and concentrated, with depth and plenty of freshness—a quality that was not a given in this hot, sunny vintage. A great success.

About the estate:

After a ten-year career as an industrial optimization engineer and following his studies at the “Viti” in Beaune, Benoît Eschard, Thierry Jeannin-Naltet’s nephew, took over the reins in 2013 of this 8.6-hectare family estate, which was founded in 1858.

Tasted in December 2019. The nose offers notes of crisp red fruit. The palate is supple and juicy. A well-rounded wine with a touch of richness on the finish.
