“This sparkling ruby-red Premier Cru reveals a rich, powerful nose of red berries accented with hints of caramel. On the palate, it is dense, silky, round, and concentrated, with depth and plenty of freshness—a rare quality in this hot, sunny vintage. A great success.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2018)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2018 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2018 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About wine:
Light, airy, and delicate, it is beautifully crafted. Its style is both straightforward and alluring.
About the estate:
Benoît Eschard, a graduate of the École des Arts et Métiers, decided in 2013 to take over from his uncle this historic family estate in Mercurey, comprising 8.6 hectares, 7 of which are classified as Premier Cru. He has refined every step of the process—from vineyard to cellar—vintage by vintage to realize the estate’s full potential. The approach seems to be paying off, as we observe real progress each year during our blind tastings.

About the estate:
After a ten-year career as an industrial optimization engineer and following his studies at the “Viti” in Beaune, Benoît Eschard, the nephew of Thierry Jeannin-Naltet, took over the reins in 2013 of this 8.6-hectare family estate, which was founded in 1858.

Tasted in December 2019. The nose offers notes of crisp red fruit. The palate is supple and juicy. A well-rounded wine with a touch of richness on the finish.
