About the wine:

The finest of the appellation’s twelve 1er crus, and also one of the largest. Made from 55-year-old vines, this wine boasts a deep ruby color. The nose reveals precise notes of black fruit accented by spices. The palate, full-bodied and concentrated, is supported by silky tannins that ensure excellent structure. The finish, marked by a hint of oak, rounds out the wine with balance. 2029–2033

About the estate:

A historic estate, first mentioned in the 18th century, now covering 24 hectares. At the helm are Roger Belland, who took over in 1981; his daughter Julie, who joined in 2003 and oversees winemaking; and their new colleague, Martin Boyer. While the estate is not certified organic, it practices sustainable and carefully managed viticulture (full grass cover in the vineyard, no herbicides) and produces wines of great consistency.

About the wine:

Subtle oak aging is evident in the ripe, fruity aromas of Pinot Noir, earth, humus, and violets, with subtle spicy notes. The oak is also evident on the palate, with a rich, flavorful, and moderately expressive mid-palate that gives way to a youthful, austere, balanced, and firm finish. This wine can be enjoyed young, but a few years of aging will add depth. 2030+
